Peace's Early Childhood Department starts the fall full-speed ahead. Praise God for the health to continue to serve!
As I sit here, the first day of September, I'm a bit shaky. Last September, on a normal Tuesday, the 22nd of the month, the phone rang. I was down in our child care room helping out my staff. My assistant, Linda Wilke, came to find me. She sad that I had a call. I went into my office to hear my doctor say that I had a 3 centimeter tumor (it would later turn out to be a 4 centimeter tumor) from a recent mamogram. So September has now become my "sketchy" month - just a bit unnerving. But I'm here, by God's grace alone, praying to serve well.
Our Preschool classes begin on Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th. That is always an exciting day for our students. Mom and Dad get to stay for those sessions. The children make placemats with their names on them for a craft. We use those placemats all year long at our snack times. It's a very special day. We thank God for the over 45 children that are enrolled. We are located in our new school building on Lawndale Road. Stop in and visit anytime!
Our Child Care classroom welcomes several new students in September also. We are so grateful to have 15 enrolled children in that program. Our Child Care program runs year long, but we often have new entries of children in September, making September a very special month in that classroom. Come check out our program. We'd love to see you!
Our Before & After School ministry (Latchkey) reopened on August 31, 2010. We are serving over 30 school-aged children every day. It's quite a joyous group. These children need early drop-off and late pick-up, so Peace provides a safe and fun spot for them to be right heare at our school.
Our Sunday Bible Club begins on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at our church's location on Adams Blvd. Children three years of age through fifth grade are all encouraged to join us. Our S.B.C. is run much like a "mini-Vacation Bible School." We open with lively music time and then continue with enjoyable crafts, yummy snacks, and exciting Bible lessons. This program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. every Sunday morning. We are located on the third floor of the "old" school on Adams Bld. Come check us out!
Our Nursery program reconvenes at our Adams location on Sunday, September 12, 2010. We take infants up to age three in our nursery program. Parents of wee ones often want to be able to focus on the pastor's message and the overall worship service. This ministry allows parents to be able to do this by providing a safe and loving place for their babies and toddlers to go. We are located in the basement of the church and are open every Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services.
These are the most current early childhood ministries available. They begin in September of every year here at Peace Lutheran Church and School. It's a busy time, and I often have to remind myself to just stop.... and take time to lift my prayer requests up to Jesus regarding all of these precious ministries. Because without Him, none of it matters. And with Him, everything s possible.
So this September, invite Jesus to accompany you as you grace our various doors of early childhood minstry with your child's presence. We're ready and waiting to serve you and your children.

In Jesus' Love,
Deborah Hauser
